Free Workshop for Teachers:
Register with at least 6 of your students for the same workshop take that workshop for free. Registration must be come in the same envelope with the registration document filled out for each individual.

S2BF Workshop Participant Showcase

Time: 6pm-9pm (Show starts at 630pm)
Location: Mercury Café at 2199 California Street

Admission: $5 Suggested Donation at the Door

A workshop participant show to celebrate the weekend. This is an open show to perform for those signed up for workshops. All levels welcome to perform.

To perform, register for your workshop(s) and contact Sevilla (seuilla13@yahoo.com).

There are limited performance slots. Please register for your workshop(s) prior to requesting to perform as this is a workshop participant show -- performance spots will not be held for those not registered. For troupes - all must be registered prior to confirming performance spot.

Spectacular Showcase featuring Mésmera & Raks Party

Time: Doors at 6:45pm and Show at 7:30pm

Join Shimmy 2B Free! for a night of professional performances featuring our guest instructor Mésmera. Various performers will light the stage with a spectacular show and variety of styles - performers include many of your Colorado favorites and also a few visiting from other states. A full list of performers will be posted on the Shimmy 2B Free! site closer to the date.

Along with a great show, we will have bar (donation style), snacks and donation drawing.

Phoenix with Harmony of Music & Expression

Understand how to harmonize your dance with the music. Learn techniques to utilize & hear music cues, energy, emotion, timing & more. Synchronizing your presentation & movement to the music is key for expressive dance & striking performance.

In this workshop, Phoenix will use traditional and modern music to include various styles of performance. The participants will work with theatrical exercises and dance combinations for new ideas. Along with combinations, the participants will use their own style and movements to work with specific pieces of music and sound.

Visualization is used to see the music both in performance and spiritual dance. Awaken your senses through sound and movement.

Zills suggested but not required.

Additional note on Mésmera's teaching style:
Mésmera teaches to multi-levels often at seminars. For the true beginners, gain a lot especially at the beginning. For the teachers and performers in class will have the skills to do the layering and more intricate skills toward the end of class.

Karin Hein with Slow & Sultry Combinations

In this workshop, we will go beyond the usual slow and slinky, bringing it to the next level, with several Kassar inspired slow and sultry combinations. You will explore making the body move in new ways, cultivating much richer, goo-ier movement quality. She breaks down the movements in the combinations, emphasizing the importance of embodying movements fully, making fluid transitions and having a slinky, yet clean, approach to timing. This workshop will begin with a warm-up of stretching and strengthening exercises, progressing into a series of short and long combinations. Every combination will be outlined and drilled, then combined to form a final choreography.

All levels and styles welcome!

Mésmera with Raqs Gitana: Fire and Spice!

Gypsy bellydance fusion blends spicy Spanish essences and sensual Arabic precision! Spirited technique includes Skirt, Shawl and Fan.
Mésmera's style of Gypsy is a fiery blend of Spanish, Turkish and Russian Gypsy fused with the articulate precision of classic Arabic bellydance.
(Please bring big skirt, shawl and/or fan if possible. Some will be available to borrow or buy at the workshop.)
